How do I apply for Financial Aid?
Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

What is the FAFSA?
It is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You do not have to pay anything to file a FAFSA. Eligibility for grants, scholarships, student loans, and work study is all determined from this one form.

How do I get a Personal Identification Number (PIN)?
Apply online at www.pin.ed.gov.

Who needs a Personal Identification Number (PIN)?
Students and parents (if a student is considered a dependent per the Department of Education) need a PIN and will use it each year to sign the FAFSA electronically.

What is the Federal school code?
The Federal school code for Cabarrus College is 015358.

Do I have to be a full time student to receive Financial Aid?
No, certain types of financial aid are available to part time students.

If my parents make too much money, will I be ineligible for financial aid?
Some types of financial aid are not based on need, so all students are eligible.

Is there a deadline to apply for financial aid?
Yes, the priority filing date for all students is March 15. Applications submitted after the priority filing dates will be considered only as funds are available.

Does it cost more to attend Cabarrus College if I am not a North Carolina resident?
The cost to attend Cabarrus College is the same for NC residents or out of state residents.

If I have lived in North Carolina for one year am I considered a North Carolina resident?
Some of the financial aid awarded at Cabarrus College is only awarded to North Carolina residents. The Financial Aid Office determines your eligibility based on required applications and any additional documents requested. Living in North Carolina for one year does not automatically make you eligible for state aid.

Can I use my financial aid credit to purchase books?
Some students may be eligible for more financial aid than is required to pay for tuition and fees. These students may use their available credit to purchase books at the College's online bookstore. A credit voucher will be available for these students only after all required documents are received by the Financial Aid Office. The credit voucher number that students use when ordering books is the same as their SonisWeb student ID.

Do you offer payment arrangements?
Yes, there is a fee of $50 for payment plans. Please contact the business office at 704-403-2216 or stop by Office 133 to set up a plan.

What methods of payments do you accept?
Credit card, debit cards, cash, money order, and checks.

When should I expect my refund?
Funds received by the school are posted within three days and then refund checks are processed and mailed within 14 days.

When will I receive a 1098T tax document?
All 1098Ts will be mailed by January 31st.
