Pre-Medical Assistant The Pre-Medical Assisting Track is a 32 semester-hour block of classes that, if completed successfully, meets all the pre-requisites for admission into the Medical Assisting Associate Degree Program. Successful completion includes a minimum grade of "C" in all courses and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on all course work at Cabarrus College. Pre-Nursing The Pre-Nursing Track is a 28 semester-hour block of classes that, if completed successfully, guarantees admission into the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) program. Successful completion includes a minimum grade of "B" in specified courses and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on all course work at Cabarrus College. Additional requirements for guaranteed admission are described under Pre-Nursing Track: ADN Admission Requirements. The coursework required to complete this track can be completed in two semesters. Pre-Occupational Therapy Assistant The Pre-OTA Track is a 29 semester-hour block of classes that, if completed successfully, meets all the pre-requisites for admission into the OTA Associate Degree Program. Successful completion includes a minimum grade of "C" in all courses and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on all course work at Cabarrus College. Pre-Pharmacy Technology The Pre-Pharmacy Technology Track is a 25 semester-hour block of classes that, if completed successfully, meets all the pre-requisites for admission into the Pharmacy Technology Associate Degree Program. Successful completion includes a minimum grade of "C" in all courses and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on all course work at Cabarrus College. Pre-Professional The Pre-Professional Track is designed for students who are undecided on their major. This is a two semester track that provides students with coursework that prepares them for entry into a professional program at Cabarrus College (such as Associate of Science in Nursing, Medical Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Pharmacy Technology, or Surgical Technology). Completion of a Pre-Professional Track does not guarantee admission into a Professional Program. At the completion of the second semester, students who have not been accepted into a professional program at Cabarrus College may change to the Life Sciences Track to complete the AS degree. Pre-Surgical Technology The Pre-Surgical Technology Track is a 32 semester-hour block of classes that, if completed successfully, meets all the pre-requisites for admission into the Surgical Technology Associate Degree Program. Successful completion includes a minimum grade of "C" in all courses and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on all course work at Cabarrus College. Life Sciences The Life Sciences Track provides students with foundation knowledge in the biological sciences and an introduction to laboratory techniques of biotechnology. This program will help students prepare for careers in the life sciences or further study toward more advanced degrees at four-year academic institutions leading to degrees such as pre-medicine or pre-veterinary. This track also provides an opportunity for students to enter a professional program (such as Medical Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Surgical Technology) at Cabarrus College.
