An academic advisor is assigned to students to ensure availability of faculty for guidance and general
academic assistance. The Registrar and/or Program Chair will provide academic advising to enrolled students
prior to orientation. The Registrar will assign each student a division academic advisor prior to orientation.
Academic Advisors meet with students during orientation where guidelines of academic advising are reviewed.
Students are encouraged to meet with their Academic Advisors at least once per month for the first year of enrollment
and as needed thereafter during posted office hours. Such meetings may include but are not limited to:
- For a drop or add curriculum change
- Following mid-term letter reports of grades of less than "C"
- When the student requests to go on curriculum leave of absence
- To withdraw from the college
- To change a major
- To remove the online registration hold and update the curriculum plan
- To complete the intent to graduate form
- To complete the graduation clearance form
- As needed for academic guidance
All teaching faculty post available office hours each week for consultation with students.
Students who are identified by faculty and/or advisors as having potential barriers to learning will be referred
to the Director of Student Affairs for counseling and/or Student Development Services. Advisors may refer students
for personal counseling.
